Wine House Bar & Bistro
Since opening in August, Wine House Bar & Bistro has been a breath of fresh air on the Hua Hin food and wine scene.

Late 2016 was a difficult time to attempt to open a business in Thailand, and in particular, in Hua Hin.

It was a very brave decision by Praphan Huttakit to open a winebar in Hua Hin in 2016. Having been an extremely successful businessman in Bangkok, this decision is now being rewarded as Wine House Bar & Bistro goes from strength to strength in Hua Hin.

With a brigade of some 6 chefs in the massive outdoor kitchen, Wine House is able to put out both Italian classics, some with a Thai twist, steaks and other western dishes, as well as authentic Thai fare. Dishes include Spaghetti Carbonara and Amatriciana as well as wonderful Thai favourites like Som Tam and a Daed Diaw of lamb. The sliced lamb is marinated with the meat being lightly deep fried and coming to the table moist and tender with a nam jim dipping sauce.

They also do a stellar Yam Kor Moo Yang, which is grilled, marinated pork neck; this salad is succulent and healthy. The neck is one of the cuts of pork having the right combination of muscle, lean meat and fat. It is an extremely popular cut in Thailand.

To make up this salad you have all the usual culprits of a traditional Thai Yam, which means mix in Thai; there’s lettuce, shallots or red onions, spring onions, tomatoes, Chinese celery, herbs like coriander and mint as well as a standard dressing of fish sauce, lime juice, fresh chilli and a pinch of sugar. The dressing should be hot, salty, sweet and sour; a standard balance in a Thai dressing. Wine House really delivers on this dish and it is well worth trying.

They also do some elegant and delicious desserts, so if you are out somewhere else and just wish to finish off your night with a beautiful dessert and a glass of wine, Wine House has you covered.

On the wine front, Wine House Bar & Bistro has defied the very stringent Thai tax laws to be able to be able to offer some very affordable, and very drinkable wines from all around the world.

Alongside Bordeax and Rhone Valley wines from France, there are Shiraz, Pinot and Chardonnay from Australia, as well as many offerings from Chile, Italy, Spain and South Africa.

With price brackets from 499 baht right through to the top end of around 1200baht, you are sure to find something you will enjoy. If you’re unsure, speak to Khun Oh and ask for a recommendation.

If wine is not your thing, there are beers on tap with Hoegaarden and Hoegaarden Rosee, Leffe and Leffe Bruin as well as cold Chang served in the courtyard in glasses, jugs and towers. There are also a range of bottled beers to satisfy every taste.

The live entertainment is also first class with a rock ‘n’ roll band on the outdoor stage on Fridays and Sundays and a terrific duo entertaining as well as getting people up to sing on Saturday nights.
